This Friday, finally the cinema halls in india will reopen after 7 long months. In September, the Multiplex Association of India had urged the government to reopen cinemas, stating jobs were at stake as a reason. The cinema body, which represents all the multiplex chains, including PVR, INOX, Carnival, and Cinepolis, said the sector directly employs more than two lakh people and provides employment to lakhs indirectly. The #UnlockCinemaSaveJobs appeal highlighted the cinema industry’s plight, emphasizing it was the first to shut and last to reopen during the lockdown. Theatres

When AMC (American Theatres) reopened after 5 months of global shutdown, it was the first experience for moviegoers. Theater lights slowly returned nationwide from August. AMC Theatres, the largest chain, led the charge. Masked employees greeted patrons in the lobby. They helped to adventure them around the new safety protocols. Masks were required inside, except when eating or drinking. Sick patrons were asked to stay home. Soon, customers numbers doubled. A steady stream of all ages returned to the big screen. Though the world’s biggest chain, and in spite of increasing footfalls, it faced loss. The world’s largest movie theater company may run out of cash by year’s end if it doesn’t raise additional funds or get more people back to theaters following pandemic shutdowns that have disrupted businesses dependent on consumers gathering in public spaces. From Lockdown to Liftoff: Theatres Take Flight Again

Theater managements are indeed facing huge losses, despite the jobs being saved. As per a review done for AMC business, a sellout, however, wasn’t exactly what it used to be. AMC was and is still only selling to 30% capacity, which in this location meant about 25 people per screen. Each film only gets two screenings a day to give employees ample time to clean. Showtimes are staggered to prevent crowds in lobbies, ensuring a safer experience.. With the new guidelines forced on the multiplexes to regulate their activities and reopen, the theaters are only counting on survival.

Keeping that as an example, Indian theaters can expect the same on reopening the cinema halls. As India reopens, strict protocols are being implemented in various parts.  Strictly follow COVID-19 protocols. Failure incure action under IPC and Disaster Management Act. New rules apply to moviegoers and cinemas. Maintain six feet distance in common and waiting areas.

Contactless sanitisers should be available. Staff will conduct thermal screening; only asymptomatic individuals can enter. To ensure fifty percent occupancy, place cross-shaped tape on unusable seats and display this information at booking windows. Collect customer phone numbers for phone tracing. Stagger show intervals and prevent crowding in toilets. Provide adequate food counters. Set air conditioner temperatures at twenty-four to thirty degrees and ensure cross-ventilation. Allow limited people in lifts. Finally, clean halls after every show.

Post-Pandemic Premiere: Theatres Roar Back to Life

With this, the theaters will face a reduction in cash income and a huge loss as a result in their year-end business. While employees are glad that the country is finally finding its way back to normalcy, they have mixed feelings about going back to a theater. Cinema halls are trying to maximize footfalls in the best way they can, while the risk is at its highest. The biggest threat is the less footfall of the audiences. Cinema and cricket: the two Cs that bring Indians together. Cricket has adapted to the new abnormal, and the IPL has reinstated a sense of routine in our lives. One needs to see how the second C—cinema—adapts to the changing times to fight the biggest C of them all—the coronavirus.Theatres

The films re-releasing in theaters as soon as they open , include ThappadWarShubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Kedarnath, and others. Also, the fresh films having their much-awaited theatre release like PM Narendra ModiSooryavanshi, 83 The FFilm, and many more , we are excited, and we wish them all the luck. As the Indian entertainment industry clearly believes, the show must go on! Covid 19 theaters are earning less Covid 19
