Being just an actor/actress isn’t enough in Bollywood. You have to have a successful and flourishing career with a good fan following. Failing which you can be as easily forgotten as you were remembered. Being a star’s child is a different challenge. It doesn’t guarantee similar adulation or achievement. Recently, star kids have called their film background more of a con than a pro. It offers an easy platform, but comparisons and judgments are constant. These only stop with consistent, solid performances. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vivek Oberoi are some star kids who, through sheer talent, have made us forget their lineage.
Here is a look at some of the star kids that started with big anticipation but somewhere lost the game…badly.
Tusshar Kapoor
Son of Bollywood’s superstar Jeetendra, Tusshar Kapoor had a promising start with Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan, but he had no luck after that. All his movies flopped one after another, no matter how hard he tried. It helped him that his sister, Ekta Kapoor, became a huge TV and movie producer; thus, she gave him abundant work, but otherwise this is one actor people would rather not see back on the silver screen.
Esha Deol
Despite being a star kid, Esha Deol seemed like she was born to be a star. But sadly, destiny never played in her favor, at least as far as Bollywood is concerned. Although her debut film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, was appreciated, she failed to capture the same attention in her remaining movies.
Zayed Khan
Zayed Khan never had the acting bug in him, and it’s evident from his performances. All of them seemed very unconvincing. Son of actor Sanjay Khan, he made his debut in Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne, which did disastrous business and was soon written off. Even though he had significant roles in movies such as Main Hoon Na, his career never really took off.
Sikandar Kher
His parents are the multi-talented Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher. In spite of this parentage, there seems to be no earth-shattering performance from this lad. His debut movie, Woodstock Villa, was a dud. He seemed to have a promising career, but one flop after another 5 times made the critics write him off.
Uday Chopra
Born in the famous Yash Chopra family, Uday Chopra never had the conventional chocolate boy looks that Bollywood is used to. His acting skills too didn’t help his fate. After his debut in the multi-starrer Mohabbatein, people had hopes that he might improve his acting or movie choices, but none of that ever happened.
