King Khan, aka Shahrukh Khan (SRK), though born into an affluent family, lost everything after his father’s death, and after his mother’s demise, he went into depression. However, to support his family, he started acting on Doordarshan and hosted a show for which he was paid Rs 50! Later he did TV serials like Circus, Dil DariyaFauji, etc. Eventually, he decided to move to Mumbai and try his luck in Mumbai. With no accommodation in Mumbai, Global Power Shahrukh lived in a rented house for over 1 and a half years.

During his struggle, Hema Malini spotted him and cast him in her film Dil Aashna Hai, opposite Divya Bharti. Before its release, Global Power Shahrukh landed another role in Deewana (1992) alongside Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti. Deewana was a hit and also won the Best Debut Actor Filmfare Award, and after this SRK never looked back. Today, SRK has become a brand and ranks among the 50 most powerful people globally.

From Struggle to Global Power : The Shah Rukh Khan Story

Akshay Kumar, Bollywood’s most popular actor after the Khan trio, had a humble start. While in Bangkok to learn martial arts and Thai boxing, Akshay survived on his own by working as a waiter/cook on the streets. Back in Mumbai, Akshay started martial arts classes and simultaneously tried his luck in Bollywood. But it was not an easy task. Hence he did a modeling assignment and got a ‘lucky’ break opposite Karisma Kapoor in the film Deedar (1992), but the failure of the movie marred his career. However, with the success of Khiladi (1992), he won stardom, but again his career took a nosedive due to poor selection of films. Film critics labelled him a wooden actor, and he was written off! However, in 1999 his career took a new twist, and with Hera Pheri (1999), he made a comeback, and since then he has been ruling Bollywood.

Regarded as a quality actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui had struggled over 13 years before winning stardom. Initially, he worked as a watchman or a chemist, but his passion for acting in Bollywood never died. Bollywood initially rejected him despite his drama training, but he persisted, taking on supporting roles in films like Sarfarosh, Munnabhai MBBS, and Black Friday. Eventually, after a brief role in Aamir Khan‘s film Talash (2012) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), he has never looked back.

Bollywood to Billionaire: Shah Rukh Khan’s Incredible Journey

Like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, actress Kangana Ranaut also came from a small town in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. Her parents were against her dream of becoming a film star, but she rebelled and ran away to Mumbai. Initially mocked for her poor English and dressing style and also exploited by Bollywood actor Aditya Pancholi, she faced all hurdles bravely and proved her talent, winning 3 National Awards and 4 Filmfare Awards!!! Truly Kangana Ranaut is a great example of a self-made woman!
