role. The name of the film is ‘Parwana.’
In this film, Amitabh stars alongside Navin Nischol and Yogita Bali.
During the making of this film, Amitabh Bachchan was not a known name
in the industry, and he knew very few people around in Bollywood.
Whereas Navin Nischol was a gold medalist from the Pune Film Institute.
His first film was with actress Rekha, ‘Sawan Bhadon, in 1970. The film was a superhit, and Navin Nishchol had established himself as a film actor in Hindi films.

“Unraveling the Story Behind Parwana”
The story of the film ‘Parwana,’ released in 1971, is a story of an
infatuated lover turned murderer so the film was more of a thriller film
directed by Jyoti Saroop. With Navin Nischol and Yogita Bali in the lead pair, the film Parwana also had Shatrughan Sinha and Om Prakash
in a special appearance, Amitabh Bachchan essayed his first negative
role as the infatuated lover Kumar Sen. Though the film began like a
love story, but the end was more of a thriller murder mystery.
Amitabh Bachchan has essayed the role of an artist who falls in love
with Asha, essayed by Yogita Bali. Asha is a dancer, and she wins a trip
to Ooty in a dance competition where she meets the handsome, wealthy tea
plantation owner Rajeshwar. Navin Nischol plays the role of Rajeshwar.
When Kumar Sen finds out that his lady love is in love with Rajeshwar,
He is livid. He approaches her uncle Ashok Verma. played by Om Prakash
to convince her to marry him and not Rajeshwar, but Om Prakash refuses to
comply with his wish, as he knows Asha is madly in love with Rajeshwar.
Kumar Sen then plots to kill Om Prakash. He does it so meticulously
with a brilliant plan without leaving any clue to suspect him. Amitabh
Bachchan has depicted the entire murder in sequences, and finally he
kills Ashok Verma and frames Rajeshwar as the murderer, who is arrested
and the court verdict awards him a death sentence.
Amitabh Bachchan now thinks he can have Asha for himself but he was
Alas, disappointed. Asha who is broken and torn between the two,
promises Kumar Sen that if he manages to get Rajeshwar released from the
death sentence, she will marry him on this condition. Kumar Sen has
realized that Asha is truly in love with Rajeshwar and that it is who
has come in between two people in love.
He realizes his mistake and regrets it. Character decides to mend his ways
and confesses and turns himself to the law, giving details and his entire
murder plan to Rajeshwar and how he had executed it. He ensures
Rajeshwar is released, after which he commits suicide.

“Amitabh Bachchan’s Overlooked Masterpiece”
Initially, the film’s poster featured only Navin Nischol and Yogeeta Bali, without Amitabh Bachchan. However, after “Anand” was released and Amitabh gained popularity, new posters were released with his image.
R.D. Burman initially composed the film’s music, but due to creative differences, Madan Mohan was later brought on board.. Kaifi Azmi penned the lyrics for the film’s songs. Prominent singers like Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi, and Asha Bhosle lent their voices. Parveen Sultana also sang beautifully in the film. However, the most popular songs were those sung by Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle, composed by Madan Mohan.
