A.A. Nadiadwala produced this crime drama film. Prayagraj wrote the screenplay, and Kader Khan penned the dialogues. DSP Rameshwar Singh (Shammi Kapoor) captures Daku Mangal Singh (Amjad Khan). Mangal’s wife dies in childbirth. The DSP takes in the baby boy, names him Amit (Amitabh Bachchan), and raises him alongside his own son Kishen (Vinod Khanna).

This leads to confusion, intense fight scenes, and romance with Shabana Azmi and Neetu Singh.The film ends with both the men, who come together to fight the Daku Mangal Singh. Good upbringing shapes a person’s life. Amit, a daku’s son, is raised by a noble DSP and becomes a good person. In contrast, Kishen, the DSP’s son, initially goes astray but later reforms.
