New-Age Stars: Who Are the Gen Z Icons of Bollywood Today?

Bollywood has given birth to several stars since its inception, and to date, the ‘birth of a star’ remains a phenomenon that excites fans of the Hindi film industry. Generations have come and gone, but Bollywood hasn’t disappointed in gifting the fans with new faces, emerging as the next big thing in the industry. Digging deep into this talk, whenever the generation topic comes up, we find Gen Z in the front.

Generation Z, or simply Gen Z, addresses the people who are born between 1990 and 2010 time frame. In a cinematic style, it can be stated that when the Khans started ruling in Bollywood, this generation was born, and now, in the present time, when Generation Alpha is growing up, it is time for the Zs to take the centre stage and keep shining Bollywood’s name to the world.

Well, not to mention, several of those young are already embarking on their names in the list of evergreen stars, and are emerging as the Gen Z icons of Bollywood. But who are they? Well, we will find that out in this article, which talks about the top Gen Z icons of Bollywood Today.

Nitanshi Goel

The junior-most in this list of the best Gen Z actors is Nitanshi Goel. Born in 2007 in Noida as well, she has already achieved the status of a stars even before turning an adult. She debuted with one of the most successful movies recently, in the likes of Laapataa Ladies, which eventually won her the IIFA Award for Best Actress.

Coming to her education, she completed her schooling from the Ryan International Group of Institutions, and it seems like she has been handling her study as well as her career very well. Among the other popular movies and shows she has been in are Maidaan, Thapki Pyar Ki, Ishqbaaz, etc.


Vedang Raina

First in this list of new age stars, stars like Vedang Raina. Talking about the Gen Z time period, Raina was born in 2000 in New Delhi. He pursued his education from Jamnabai Narsee International School, and then went on to study management at SVKM’s NMIMS.

Coming to his acting career, he stepped into Bollywood with the Zoya Akhtar-directed, Netflix original film – The Archies (2023), and gained much praise for his character as Reggie Mantle, and then also featured in the action thriller film – Jigra (2024), alongside Alia Bhatt. There’s not much time or film that Raina has been on, but still, with the little but effective performances, he has started to win hearts.

Medha Shankar

If Gen Z stars are the talk, Medha Shankar is surely to hit the list, as she is arguably the most successful Gen Z star on the list till now. Born in 1997, in Noida. As her looks suggest, she has a strong fashion style, and who knows, she strengthened it during her time at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, for her graduation?

She made her acting debut in Beecham House, a famous British Television series, in 2019; however, it was the biographical drama 12th Fail that hit the theatres in 2023 that aided her in securing fame. The movie gained huge popularity for the story and also for the acting of Vikrant Massey and Shankr, too, and the film went on to win several awards, along with Shankr herself winning the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.


Rohit Saraf

Next in this list comes a well-known face of television, Rohit Suresh Saraf. Featuring on numerous renowned shows, series, and movies, Saraf has come a long way. After completing his studies at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, Rohit stepped foot in this industry to pursue a career in acting, and he indeed has a pretty impressive resume.

From his film debut in Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhat featured, Dear Zindagi to having his character notice in several other well-known films like – The Sky is Pink, Hichki, Ludo, Vikram Vedha, etc and then leading in the popular series – Mismtched, it is safe to say that Rohit also among the most successful Gen Z actors.

Ibrahim Ali Khan

Looking for a Saif Ali Khan look-alike? You’re surely going to find it in the likes of Ibrahim Ali Khan. And why not? Ibrahim not only shares facial similarities with his father but also exerts similar vibes to him. Coming from a Nawab family, he spent his school life at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, and later on went to NYFA, I New York Film Academy, as well.

He first appeared as a child artist in the 2008 movie Tashan, and then as a lead actor, he debuted this year alongside Khushi Kapoor in Nadaaniyan. Though the film wasn’t a commercial success, people became fans of Ibrahim at first glance as an actor, and also the Gen Z vibe he exuded, which created a place for him in multiple hearts.


Abhay Verma Stars

Another sweet-faced Gen Z actor of Bollywood is Abhay Verma. Born in 1998, in Panipat, he completed his schooling from St. Mary’s Convent and then enrolled for BBA, but most likely didn’t complete it. There have been talks that he failed in Science multiple times in school. However, things didn’t go that way when he came to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting.

He featured in numerous well-known web series, starting from “Little Things”, a very popular thriller genre, The Family Man (Season 2), etc. Coming to his big screen presence, he debuted with legendary director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Mann, Bairagi, and then continued to feature in several other popular films like – Safed for which he earned huge recognition, Ae Watan Mere Watan, and Munjya.

Sanjeeta Bhattacharya

Talk about multitalented. Next to it comes Sanjeeta Bhattacharjya. Born in 1996 in New Delhi, she pursued her degree in music from Berklee College of Music. So why limit yourself from flexing your education? Well, she didn’t, she paid at several festivals including the popular Panama Jazz Festival, Hornbill Festival, and NH7 Weekender. And that’s how she marked her name in the industry as a singer-songwriter and not to mention, an actor too.

Despite the fact that she hasn’t done much in her acting career, she has received huge love from the little she has done till now, which includes her role as a badass girl in Shah Rukh Khan featuring Jawan, and the popular television series Feels Like Ishq, which helped her gain popularity.


Sparsh Shrivastava

Looking for a professional dancer cum actor? Well, Sparsh Shrivastava is at your business. He won the dance reality show – Chak Dhoom Dhoom, and since then, there is no turning back for him. He went to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore to pursue BBA in Entrepreneurship; however, his passion for dance and acting didn’t let him choose a different field, eventually.

His debut movie, includes the much acclaimed movie – Laapataa Ladies, and also debuted as a singer, cum composer and a lyricist in the Ji Huzoor movie, which further reflects on his versatality. Among the popular movies and shows he’s been on are – Ae Watan Mere Watan, Dupahiya, Balika Vadhu, etc.
