Mrityudaata is a Hindi-language action drama movie released in 1997, directed by Mehul Kumar and with music directed by Anand Milan.

Mrityudaata was considered to be the comeback movie of Amitabh Bachchan, who had temporarily left the film industry in 1992. His production company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL), produced this movie. ABCL also produced the films such as Tere Mere Sapne. Despite being Amitabh’s comeback movie, it flopped at the box office.

Storyline and plot of Mrityudaata:
The storyline of the movie revolves around Dr. Ram Prasad, who lives happily with his wife and brother Bharat, who is an engineer. Later, Bharat dies after they falsely accuse him of a murder, and Dr. Ram plans to avenge his death.

Mehul Kumar wrote the movie, and Jali Sherwani wrote the dialogues.The star cast of the movie includes Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Deepak Tijori, and Arbaaz Ali Khan. They offered Sunny Deol the role of Arbaaz Ali Khan, but he refused it as he was busy shooting for Border.

Mrityudaata’s song ‘Nana Nana Naare,’ filmed on Amitabh and Daler Mehndi, became very popular upon release.
The movie had a good opening in theaters with a capacity of 95%; however, in the second week, the viewership dropped from a disappointing 95% to 45%. After the failure of the movie at the box office, critics said that now Amitabh’s career will end with Mrityudaata.

On the other hand, the career of singer Daler Mehndi was on the verge of success.
