Mehul Kumar directed the 1999 action movie Kohram. The star cast of the movie includes Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Jaya Prada, Danny Denzongpa, Mukesh Kumar, Mukesh Rishi, Tabu, Mukul Dev, and Ayesha Jhulka. Jackie Shroff has played a cameo role in Kohram.

Mehul Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan Collaborated After Mrityudata’s Failure:

After Mehul Kumar’s movie with Amitabh Bachchan, Mrityudata, flopped at the box office, director Mehul Kumar wanted to make another movie with Amitabh Bachchan, where he got the idea of ​​’Kohram.’ Both these movies were produced by Amitabh Bachchan’s production company, ABCL.

Early Announcements About Kohram:

Initially, Kohram was set to star Dimple Kapadia, Arshad Warsi, and Karisma Kapoor under the title “Ae Watan Tere Liye”. However, the project underwent significant changes, resulting in a new title, “Kohram”. Interestingly, a film with the same title was released in 1991 starring Dharmendra, and eight years later, Amitabh Bachchan starred in the new version. Earlier, Nana Patekar rejected the role offered to him, but later he changed his mind and signed movie.

Storyline of Kohram:

Talking about the story, it revolves around a colonel who fails to assassinate a corrupt minister. He then assumes a new identity; however, he is soon tracked by an undercover major who later agrees to join him in exposing the minister.

Crew and the Interesting Facts About Amitabh Bachchan’s Kohram:

The writer of the movie is Iqbal Durrani, and the music director is Dilip Sain. Jackie Shroff only had a special appearance of 5 minutes in the movie, but the movie was promoted as a four-hero movie starring Amitabh, Nana, Jackie, and Mukul Dev. Shroff was on every poster and trailer of Movie.

Reviews and Box Office Collection of Kohram:

The movie got mixed reviews, but it was better than Mehul Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan’s Mrityudata. The movie did nothing special at the box office and did average business. This movie was made against Pakistan in 1999. Movie was dedicated to  Indian soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil War during Operation Vijay.
