Welcome, all, to Amitabh Bachchan’s film journey. Today we will talk about his film Mili, released in 1975, a Hindi romantic drama film produced and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
The film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, with Ashok Kumar. Supporting actors include Usha Kiran, Shoba Khote, and Aruna Irani in cameo roles.

“Shekhar and Mili’s Heartwarming Romance”
The story is of Shekhar, an alcoholic, depressed young gentleman essayed by Amitabh Bachchan. He’s unhappy until he meets Mili, a bubbly girl from his neighborhood. Mili, played by Jaya Bachchan, is a fun-loving and positive person who spreads happiness around her.
Mili changes Shekhar’s attitude towards life completely, and once he starts meeting her, he sees a change in himself from the depressed alcoholic to a happy man. But his happiness is short-lived as he gets to know that Mili, the happy-go-lucky girl, is suffering from a rare disease that has no cure.
The film is worth watching to see the acting of Jaya and Amitabh in this film. Flawless and natural acting just comes easy with these two stars.
A lot of the scenes from this film bring a similarity with Hrishikesh’s earlier film Anand, but the good part is the film doesn’t end on a sad note like Anand, wherein Rajesh Khanna dies of cancer; here, Mili is taken by Shekhar out of India for her treatment, and the film ends on that note.

The writers of the film are Bimal Dutta and Dr. Rahi Masoon Raza. In this film, Amitabh Bachchan has for the first time acted as a drunkard. Jaya Bhaduri was nominated for the Best Actress award for this film. Other than that, there were no other awards bagged by this film. But the Bengali Film Journalist Association Awards was given to Amitabh Bachchan for the Best Actor for this film.
This film was also remade in Telugu with the name ‘Jyoti,’ and Jaya Bachchan’s role was essayed by Jayasudha in the remake. Music was rendered by legendary music director Sachin Dev Burman, and it was his last film. So, friends, here we end another interesting tale on Amitabh Bachchan’s film career.
