1984-released political action thriller movie Inquilaab was one of the hit movies of the year. The movie successfully completed ‘Silver Jubilee.’ Inquilaab was directed by Tatineni Rama Rao and starred superstar Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role along with Sridevi. The movie also featured Utpal Dutt, Kader Khan, Ranjeet, Shakti Kapoor, and others in supporting roles. It is a remake of the 1983 Kannada movie ‘Chakravyuha.’
Movies Plot
The plot of the movie revolves around Amarnath, aka Amar, who is an educated young man. His struggle is the story of not finding a desirable job, as each position he comes across forces him to compromise his morals. Later on, he comes across a politician named Shankar who helps him complete his IPS exam, gets posted as an ACP, and serves the state with utmost honesty. As the story moves on to a love sequence, Amar meets Asha, and they fall in love with each other. Asha’s multi-millionaire businessman father accepts their relationship after Shankar’s demand.
The story of Inquilaab takes an unexpected and surprising turn as Amar finds out about a crime network that includes Shankar and Seetharam. They blackmail him into joining their crime network. They use a picture of Amar handing the briefcase to Seetharam’s crime partner, an international smuggler named Koya-Koya Hatachi, aka Richard Louis.
Plot Twist
Things take a turn when Amar gets an order from Seetharam to recover diamonds from Richard Louis. Amar completes his task and proceeds to kill Richard and run away with diamonds. Amar’s colleague Inspector Pratap issues a warrant to search Amar as per the orders from the commissioner.
Inspector Pratap, who is aware of the stolen diamonds, tries hard to find them but fails as Amar hides them inside his fake bandages. The whole facade creates misunderstandings between Asha and Amar, and she leaves him, taking their newborn child with her. After facing so much, Amar decides to resign from his job. The movie’s climax features Amar filing for nomination in the election and becoming CM with people’s support. He then smuggles a machine gun into the cabinet meeting and kills Seetharam and Shankar along with other culprits.
The movie ends with Asha realizing her mistake and Amar surrendering himself to the police.
