Welcome to another episode of Amitabh Bachchan’s filmy journey! Today, we’re discussing his 1973 action thriller film Gehri Chaal. Directed and produced by C.V. Sridhar, the film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, and Hema Malini. The music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. Gehri Chaal was later remade in Tamil in 1975.

The story goes as follows: Dharamchand is the chairman of Olympic Bank
which is due for its audit. His daughter, essayed by Hema Malini, finds
him dead in his bedroom just before the last date of the audit. Her
brother finds the suicide note that he had embezzled 20 lakhs from the
bank, and as he is not able to repay, he is killing himself. Ratan, her
Brother does not disclose this suicide note to the family. Days later
Ratan is blackmailed by the blackmailer Shekhar who threatens to expose
his father’s secret of money embezzled and says if he doesn’t help him
in the bank robbery and the money should be robbed before the final date
of the audit.</p>
A bank robbery sets off a mystery. Ratan is suspected, but the real culprit is his friend Madan. As drama unfolds, it’s revealed that Dharamchand was murdered by Madan, not a suicide. Madan had forced Dharamchand to write a suicide note, covering his own tracks. Madan is the one who embezzled 20 lakhs.

The film didn’t do too well at the box office either but Amitabh
Bachchan and Hema Malini paired in this film toget
her on screen. Rest
