Charming personality and handsome looks were considered easy passports to Bollywood. Several stars like JeetendraManoj KumarRajendra Kumar, etc. in the ’60s ruled Bollywood, not for their actions but for their good looks. The media had coined the term ‘chocolate hero’ exclusively for such stars. But history has witnessed that many ‘chocolate heroes’ too could make it big despite their extremely debonair personalities.

In the ’80s, Deepak Parashar stole the thunder with his dashing looks in the film Insaaf Ka Tarazu (1980), but after that, he could not sustain stardom. Though he did some hit films like Nikaah (1982), Sharaabi (1984), etc. He had to survive doing roles on TV.

Jugul Hansraj : A Career That Didn’t Last

Jugal Hansraj, the cute, light-eyed child who won huge success for his innocent looks and great performance in Masoom (1983), turned into a handsome man. Jugul Hansraj He was signed by top filmmaker Salim Akhtar in his film Aa Gale Lag Jaa in 1994 opposite Urmila Matondkar, but the film failed. Two years later, Mahesh Bhatt gave him another major break in his film Papa Kehte Hai, but yet again he failed. The few movies he did were Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), and Salaam Namaste (2005), but Jugul Hansraj he could not make it big.

A discovery of Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL), Chandrachur Singh, was tall, handsome, and cute-looking. His debut film, Tere Mere Sapne (1996), was a washout, but his second film, released the same year, was Gulzar‘s hard-hitting Maachis. The movie was not only a hit but also fetched him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. However, despite doing films like Daag: The Fire (1999) opposite Sanjay DuttKya Kehna (2000) opposite Preity Zinta, and Josh (2000) opposite Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh KhanChandrachur Singh failed to click, as all these films failed at the box office!

From Hero to Where?

Like father, like son goes the English axiom, but alas, in Bollywood the axiom failed, as Bollywood’s two most dashing actors, viz., Feroz Khan and Vinod Khanna‘s respective sons, Fardeen Khan and Rahul Khanna, did not succeed.

Faisal Khan, the younger brother of Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan, too could not succeed despite having good looks and a dashing personality. Faisal started his career as a child star in his uncle Nasir Hussain‘s hit film Pyar Ka Mausam, playing young Shashi Kapoor. Later, he made his debut as a leading hero in the film Madhosh. Tahir Hussain produced the film, but it failed. Again in 2000, hit film Raja Hindustani director Dharmesh Darshan signed him opposite Aamir Khan in the film Mela. Unfortunately, the film failed and so came to halt the career of Faisal Khan.
