Actor Mehmood and Amitabh Bachchan’s friendship is very famous in the film industry. Both of them have been extremely close friends. Mehmood gave Amitabh Bachchan his first break in “Bombay to Goa”, which was a huge success. This led to Amitabh signing “Zanjeer”, cementing his stardom. But his success did not stop him from being grateful to Mahmood for giving him his first successful break. Mehmood often featured Amitabh Bachchan in guest appearances, and Amitabh would do them for free. One example is Mehmood’s film “Kunwara Baap”, where Amitabh made a guest appearance as a favor to him.
When Mehmood’s films started flopping after Kunwara Baap, he had a lot of financial trouble, and it was Amitabh Bachchan who bailed him out to help him financially. He also recommended Mehmood to many directors, which helped actor to improve his financial condition. Mehmood visited Amitabh Bachchan’s residence when his father fell ill. Later, he was hospitalized at Breach Candy Hospital, where Amitabh’s father was also admitted. Amitabh visited his father, but didn’t meet Mehmood, despite being in the same hospital.
This upset him a lot, and he said, though he was Amitabh Bachchan’s filmy Baap—that is, he was the father to him in the film industry who gave him his first successful break—Amitabh Bachchan had no value for him, and saying these words, he had tears in his eyes.
