We all know that Danny was signed for the role of Gabbar Singh in the film Sholay
and he had refused a role in Feroz Khan’s film Dharmatma, and he let go of a
very important film, and similarly, Amitabh Bachchan also refused a film which
went to Danny Denzongpa, from which his film career as a villain began.
The Role That Changed Everything
In the 1970s, B.R. Chopra was working on his film ‘Dhund,’ and he had offered a
role to Amitabh Bachchan as a powerful villain but Amitabh Bachchan wasn’t
interested in portraying himself as a villain after his hit film Anand and he
worked along his way only with roles in the lead as a hero of the film.
The villain’s role that Amitabh Bachchan had rejected was then offered to
Shatrughan Sinha by B.R. Chopra. Danny Denzongpa’s was visiting his office with a hope of getting a role in his films but
the filmmaker did not offer him the role, as it demanded a senior looking man
while Danny Denzongpa’s had the looks of a young boy and hence was not suited for the role.
But Danny had not given up.Danny’s friend, B.R. Chopra’s assistant director, informed him about an opportunity.B.R. Chopra removed Shatrughan Sinha from the film due to his tardiness and began looking for a new villain. Danny saw his chance and acted quickly.
Danny learned about the role and took action. He visited B.R. Chopra’s office repeatedly, showcasing his acting skills and impressive makeup. Chopra was impressed and signed Danny for the film. The film’s success catapulted Danny to stardom, earning him the title of top villain in Hindi cinema.
