Amitabh Bachchan & Shashi Kapoor Deliver Non-Stop Action
In the film, one scene was to be shot at Mumbai’s famous Sea Rock Hotel. That was the time when Amitabh Bachchan was suffering from an asthma attack. During the shooting, he got the asthma attack. If not for Shashi Kapoor’s timely help to him, it would have been very bad, and anything could have happened. After this incident, Amitabh Bachchan decided that with every film that required two heroes, he would ask the director to cast Shashi Kapoor in it.
After Do Aur Do Paanch, Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor collaborated together in a few more films, such as Shaan, Silsila, and Namak Halaal, all films that went on to become super hits. In Do Aur Do Paanch, Hema Malini and Parveen Babi essayed the roles of their lovers.
Amitabh Bachchan plays Vijay, while Shashi Kapoor essays Sunil, two thieves tasked with kidnapping Bittu, a young boy, from his school. But both of them, when they see Bittu, have a change of heart and decide not to kidnap the boy.
They both meet their love, Anju, essayed by Parveen Babi and Shalu is Hema Malini. Both their girlfriends are unaware of their profession and fall in love with them. With their support and love, they change them to become good citizens. They join hands together to instead save the young boy from kidnapping and rescue him from his wicked uncle and his henchmen. The story ends with a happy ending.
The producer of the film is Devar Films and the screenplay is by Sachin Bhowmick. Dialogues are by Kader Khan, with a music score by Rajesh Roshan. Rajinikanth starred in the Tamil version of this film, made in 1982. Here we end one more episode of the Amitabh Films Series.
