Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, for the very first time, had acted together in this film, Do Anjaane. Little did they know that their association would be a long and forever one. Welcome to the episode of Amitabh Bachchan’s film journey, and today we will speak more about the film Do Anjaane, released in 1976.

A Journey Through Forgotten Memories
This film, directed by Dulal Guha, besides the star cast of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, also had Prem Chopra, Utpal Dutt, Lalita Pawar, Pradeep Kumar, and Mithun Chakraborty in supporting roles. The film was released on 26th November 1976. Until this film, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were strangers to each other, as the name of the film rightly says too. But both clicked well, and they had absolutely great chemistry as a screen couple.
During Do Anjane’s filming, Rekha was already a big star. But after Deewaar’s success, Amitabh Bachchan’s superstardom had a huge impact. Rekha was awestruck by him on set, forgetting lines and getting nervous. She admired his distinguished personality and many good qualities.

Love, Betrayal, and Revenge Unfold
Rekha’s frequent tardiness frustrated Amitabh Bachchan, a stickler for discipline. One day, he told her to arrive on time and take her work seriously. He said it in such a way that Rekha was very impressed with him. She liked his style of delivering his dialogues and his approach to any scene with ease that really made her admire him, and soon they became good friends.
This film was remade in Telugu and Kannada. The writers of this film were Shafiq Ansari, Nabendu Ghosh, and Ranjan Gupta. Kalyanji Anandji rendered music for this film.

The film Do Anjaane starts with Amitabh Bachchan’s accident, which causes memory loss. A rich family adopts him, and while watching a movie, he sees Rekha on screen – his forgotten wife. His memory returns, revealing their happy past and how her ambition led her to leave him for her director and manager, played by Prem Chopra. He now wants to take revenge.
His wife is now a famous actress, and he slowly regains his lost memory. He recalls how he is thrown off a moving train by Ranjeet (essayed by Prem Chopra). He seeks to take revenge.

Prem Chopra’s role as the villain won him the Best Supporting Actor Award. After this film, Amitabh and Rekha did several films together, and their onscreen chemistry was much loved by the audience as one of the most charming romantic pairs in Bollywood.
