India is a country of rich diversity and culture, which is reflected in every aspect of cinema produced in the country. People speaking multiple languages nationally has led to the development of regional cinema in the film industry. The Indian Film Industry is incomplete without regional cinema. The Regional cinema includes films from languages including Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Punjabi.
Regional films often don’t get the recognition and attention they deserve in the media and industry. The foundation’s efforts to promote regional cinema are evident in their award shows, such as the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards 2023, which honored films and filmmakers from diverse regional industries.
The Dada Saheb Phalke Film Foundation Awards committee organized the 2023 awards ceremony in Mumbai on May 20.
In the Marathi film industry, Prasad Oak’s Chandramukhi won the title for best Marathi film of the year. Whereas leads from the same film Amruta Khanvilkar and Adinath bagged an award for
best actor (male) and best actor (female). Prasad Oak won an award for his
spectacular work as a director as well.

Moving on to the Gujarati film industry, “ Mahilao Maate” featuring Yash Soni, Deeksha Joshi, and Amitabh Bachchan was awarded as best Gujarati film of the year. Leading Lady Deeksha Joshi received an award for her work in the same. Director of Fakt Mahilao Maate, Jay Bodas, received the trophy for best director too.

The Bhojpuri Film Awards committee honored “Aan Baan Shaan” as the Best Bhojpuri Film of the year. Alternatively, the jury recognized “Aan Baan Shaan” for its excellence, awarding it Best Film.

The film industry should celebrate, honor, and appreciate regional films, which mirror India’s vividly defined culture.
