Amitji could get the role of the famous Vijay Verma in Deewaar when the writers Salim–Javed rejected Rajesh Khanna. Deewaar is the film that changed Hindi cinema’s fate.

The temple scene where Vijay Verma challenges the gods was Amitabh Bachchan’s most challenging shoot. Big B gave 15 retakes to shoot the final take, as he was very conscious about challenging the gods.
