Waheeda Rehman, Raakhee, Rishi Kapoor, Simi Garewal, and Neetu Singh besides Amitabh
Bachchan, all of  them which were in
pivotal roles.
The film was a romantic drama produced
and directed by
Yash Chopra. After Deewaar, Yash Chopra this was the second film
with Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor.

The film had Rakhee as Pooja and
Amitabh Bachchan as Amit Malhotra in a
very important role. Both were college lovers but separated by her parents.
broken Pooja is married off to an architect, Vijay Khanna. essayed by
Shashi Kapoor, while broken Amit returns to join his father’s business
and gets married to Anjali, essayed by Waheeda Rehman. They have a daughter, Sweety, while Rakhee and
Shashi Kapoor has a son, Vicky (essayed by Rishi Kapoor). Anjali has a past having an affair; she gives
birth to a daughter, Pinky (essayed by Neetu Singh), whom she gives for adoption
to a childless couple, Simi Garewal and Doctor Parikshit Sahni. Pinky and Vicky are in love with each
other. When Pinky learns she is adopted, she is filled
with sorrow and wants to find her biological mother and goes to meet her mother
and lands up at the door of Anjalli and Amit. Anjali lies to her husband that she is her niece.

Vicky follows Pinky, and while they are
together, Sweety sees them, and they become friends, but Sweety falls in love
with Vicky, and the confusion begins when Amit learns that Pinky is his wife’s
illegitimate daughter, all hell broke loose, but the film ends on a good note, and
with a happy ending.

You would be surprised to know that in
the film Rakhee’s parents were essayed by Amitabh Bachchan’s parents, Harivansh
Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. Both are seeing doing the kanyadan of Rakhee as
She marries Shashi Kapoor in the wedding scene.

but it got its award for the best music director awarded to
Khayyam Saab, and
The lyrics were by
Sahir Ludhianvi. Best dialogue writer was given to Sagar
Sarhadi and the Best Playback Singer award went to singer Mukesh.

After the success of films like Zanjeer
and Deewar, Amitabh Bachchan had got the image of an Angry young man, but after
Kabhi Kabhi, he also started playing the roles of romantic hero, and his role in
the film Kabhi Kabhi was quite challenging as that of a lover and a father, and
not an angry young man that the audience had loved him for his fight
scenes.

However Kabhi Kabhie went on to
become a super hit film, and his role was loved by all his audience.
