Akayla is a 1991 Hindi-language action movie directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by the Musheer-Riaz duo. It was Ramesh Sippy and Amitabh Bachchan’s fourth movie together after Sholay, Shaan, and Shakti. Although their previous movies were successful at the box office, Akayla did not perform that well. Salim Khan wrote the story. Laxmikant-Pyarelal composed the music, and Anand Bakshi penned the lyrics.

Storyline of Akayla:
Talking about its story, it revolves around CID Inspector Vijay Verma, who has a younger brother, Shekhar, studying abroad. Shekhar has a close friend named Seema who studies with him. Inspector Vijay is on the run to catch a criminal named Tony Braganza. He succeeds in arresting him, but unfortunately, he gets out of the prison with the help of a lawyer. After a long thought process, Vijay figures out about Tony’s twin brother, Jojo, who helps Tony cover his crimes by planning and plotting crime scenes. The movie is a rat race between two twin brothers and Inspector Vijay. The storyline of the movie has many plots and turns with Vijay’s brother involved in between.

The star cast of Akayla:
Talking about the star cast, apart from Amitabh Bachchan, this movie has Amrita Singh, Jackie Shroff, Meenakshi Seshadri, Aditya Pancholi, Shashi Kapoor, Kiran Juneja, and Keith Stevenson. Kamal Haasan refused the role offered to him before Keith Stevenson, as he didn’t want to play a negative character in the movie.

Akaylawas is the last movie of Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor together. Earlier both of them had worked together in many movies like Trishul, Suhaag, Deewar, Namak Halal, and Shaan and used to talk like this. This movie was the first movie of Amitabh Bachchan and Jackie Shroff together. Akayla was released in 1991 but originally got delayed due to some reason.
