We all remember Nutan for her very docile and sensitive woman-oriented roles, such as in Bandini, Milan, Sujata, or even Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki. Her charm and fragility of character could bring the most insensitive of human to tears. She had a tremendous fan following and an even greater impact on Indian cinema. Unlike her very meek image on the screen, very few know that Nutan was a true-blue extroverted, adventurous personality. While other actresses of her time enjoyed cooking, painting, or film bashes as a hobby, she went wild for hunting! So much so that she spends hours perfecting the craft.
Remarkably, in those days, hunting as a sport/hobby was fairly legal and pursued by many male celebs. In an interview Nutan fondly recounts her passion for hunting: “I have been bold and extroverted since childhood. However, the credit for developing an interest in hunting and training me into a gallant and proficient hunter goes to my husband. He was a skilled hunter and always took me for hunting and during these stints he taught me the nuance of hunting so well that one day I hunted a panther myself!” “What’s more even my son Mohnish Bahl, who used to accompany us, learned hunting and has hunted many animals,” added Nutan.
