Trishul boasted an impressive cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Waheeda Rehman, Hema Malini, and Rakhee. The film also featured Shashi Kapoor, Prem Chopra, and newcomers like Sachin Pilgaonkar and Poonam Dhillon.

Trishul was directed by Yash Chopra, produced by Gulshan Rai, and written by Salim Javed. In the film Trishul, the son (Amitabh Bachchan) sets out to take revenge on his father (Sanjeev Kumar) for ditching his mother, gets her pregnant, and marries a rich, wealthy heiress. Due to which the mother and son have to face a lot of humiliation and hardships.

Trishul was a family drama in which Sanjeev Kumar played the role of Amitabh Bachchan’s father, and his acting is brilliant as Raj Kumar Gupta. After the first reel and trial of the film by Yash Chopra , Gulshan Rai and Salim Javed were disappointed. They were not too confident of the film, and Gulshan Rai had requested Salim Javed to save this film. Yash Chopra explained that someone had jokingly suggested not releasing the film, and Salim-Javed often made humorous remarks in tricky situations, which had upset them.

The filmmakers rewrote the script, adding scenes like Amitabh Bachchan’s ambulance entrance, which audiences loved. The film was finally released and became a huge success.
