Shaan, yet another film starring the legendary superstar actor Amitabh Bachchan, is an action-packed crime story directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by G.P. Sippy under their banner Eros International. The story is written by Salim Javed, and the film went on to become the blockbuster film with a multi-star cast. Music for this film was composed by R.D. Burman.

The film did average in its initial release but later went on to do great. Shaan was also one of the last films in which Mohammed Rafi lent his voice for the playback. The film had the impact of the James Bond films.
Amitabh & Shashi Unite for Thrills
The plot is about two good-for-nothing intelligent brothers, Vijay, essayed by Amitabh Bachchan, and Ravi, played by Shashi Kapoor. Both of them are the younger brothers of an upright, brave, honest police officer, Shiv Kumar, essayed by Sunil Dutt. As DCP Shiv Kumar, he lives with his wife Rakhee and young daughter Guddi in Mumbai, alongside his two brothers. A shady character, Abdul, a legless street beggar, assists them in their crooked schemes. However, their illegal activities land the brothers in prison, until the dutiful DCP bails them out.

In jail, they encounter international smugglers led by the ruthless kingpin Shaka, played by Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Meanwhile, Shiv Kumar’s honesty costs him his life in a fatal encounter, claiming his life while on duty. Vijay and Ravi are now lamenting the tragic loss of their dear brother and change their ways. They both work towards finding the killer, and in the process, they bust the smuggling dens and business. The film packs a punch with crime and suspense, featuring extensive outdoor and international locations. And the entire film takes you on a roller coaster ride with lots of killing, romance, and a story line of honesty and the integrity at the end of the film.
Thrills, Action, and Drama Unleashed
Here we sign off on another great blockbuster by Amitabh Bachchan. The film also got popular because of Mazhar Khan, who is the limbless beggar Abdul. The song sung by him became very popular, and the film overall did great, as always with Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, and Sunil Dutt in tow.
