Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary actor of the century, has worked in many blockbuster movies.Prakash Mehra directed the blockbuster movie “Sharaabi” in 1984.

In the movie ‘Sharaabi,’ Jaya Prada shared the screen with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time. The depth of the movie was such that we had never experienced it before. In Amitabh Bachchan’s cinematic journey, he collaborated with Prakash Mehra on six movies; ‘Sharaabi’ was one of the most remarkable of those movies. The movie portrayed Amitabh as the son of a rich father, and Jaya Prada played the role of his lover.

“A Legendary Film: ‘Sharaabi’ Continues to Captivate Audiences”

Whether it was the songs, dialogues, or Amitabh’s acting, everything was fantastic. Your praise is impressive to me. The movie had hit songs like ‘Chirag Darru Wala’ and ‘Nau Lakha Manga De Re O Saiya.’ These songs made the audience dance in the cinema halls. From the 80s hits like ‘De De Pyaar De’ to ‘Inteha Ho Gayi,’ every song from the movie resonated in every street and neighborhood. Anjaan wrote the lyrics, and Bappi Lahiri composed the music for the movie Sharaabi.

The success of the movie ‘Sharaabi’ was largely due to its superhit songs. Bappi Lahiri received the much-deserved Best Music Director award for the movie. Sharaabi received numerous nominations, including Best Actor, at the Filmfare Awards. “Sharaabi” was a huge success, thanks in part to Kader Khan’s memorable and impactful dialogues, which added to the film’s special charm.

“Amitabh’s Masterpiece: ‘Sharaabi’ Stands the Test of Time”

The audience loved the movie so much that it was remade in Kannada the following year as ‘Thandaane Thaakka’, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Prada, Pran, Om Prakash, Mukri, and Ranjeet. The movie was a great success, and the character Nathu Lal, played by Mukri, became iconic because of his moustache.

The movie ‘Sharaabi’ marked the end of the successful collaboration between Amitabh Bachchan and Prakash Mehra. Their following films, ‘Jaadugar‘ and ‘Ganga Jamuna Saraswati,’ were not as successful and hit as Sharaabi, and due to that their partnership came to an end. A lesser-known fact about the movie is the one-hand-in-pocket style introduced by Amitabh. According to sources, this unique gesture was a result of an accident during Diwali while bursting crackers.

The blockbuster movie Sharaabi was one of the most memorable movies in the career of Amitabh Bachchan.
