Ranveer Singh announced as the new face of Don 3

Part 4 of the Sequel and Franchise films in Bollywood

Ranveer Singh replacing Shah Rukh Khan as Don has created a buzz in the film industry. 

The Don original and the first of its kind was released in 1978 . Amitabh Bachchan first played the iconic role of Don, a powerful gangster, in the original film. Salim-Javed wrote and Chandra Barot directed the movie, where Vijay, a Don lookalike, infiltrates the gangster’s organization after Don’s death.

Don: The Chase Begins Again, released in 2006, is a remake series.

The film features Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role as Don and Vijay, with Priyanka Chopra as Roma, alongside a supporting cast including Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, and others.

New Era Begins: Ranveer Singh Takes Over as Don

Don 2: The King Is Back was released in 2011. Don 2, written by Farhan Akhtar, is an action thriller where Don (Shah Rukh Khan) expands his empire to Europe, while Roma (Priyanka Chopra) from Interpol pursues him.

The remake series is created by Javed Akhtar’s son, Farhan Akhtar, and Shah Rukh Khan.

Don 3 Gets a Fresh Face: Ranveer Singh On Board

The movie is a reboot starring Ranveer Singh as the new Don, replacing Shah Rukh Khan, with intricate plots, action sequences, and suspense set in the mafia world.

Don is finally ready to hit the road, with the shooting schedule to begin by January 2026. The film aims for its release in December 2026. Starring alongside Ranveer Singh is the pretty and charming Kiara Advani.

Farhan Akhtar made this announcement after he and Ranveer Singh mutually decided that they needed time for special martial arts skills . Kiara Advani with her pregnancy, also needed time to recuperate and get back to her work. Priyanka Chopra may also have a comeback  in Don 3.

Ranveer Singh to Play Don in Upcoming Film Franchise.

Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh, promises a fresh story with modern action sequences and global settings. Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly making a cameo appearance. Filming starts in January 2026, with a release target of December 2026.

With Ranveer Singh as the new Don, Farhan Akhtar shifted his focus on “What made Don”  Kind of a story.

Don 3 is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, with music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The franchise, spanning 47 years since 1978, has grown across films, comics, and video games.
